Remembering the summer of colour

Remembering the summer of colour

I enjoyed visiting many gardens in the UK and also in France this year. One that remains clearly in my mind are the beautiful gardens at the Chateau Chaumon-sur-Loire. It houses the Centre for Arts and Nature. How can it go wrong with a title like that! Each year a dozen or so artists, sculptors, film makers and photographers create new works in situ. The stables and rooms are transformed into exhibition halls. The gardens even without the additional art…

Many thanks for the support and encouragement I have received from you all, whether from you sharing my posts on Instagram and Facebook, giving constructive criticism or buying cards or watercolours. It is very much appreciated and makes all the difference. It may be a little chilly but we’ve had some glorious sunsets this month and when it gets just a bit too miserable out there, who can refuse a glass of red wine and some mince pies by the…

2021 – Looking forward to better times!

2021 – Looking forward to better times!

I have done numerous local walks during the lockdowns we’ve all been experiencing and thought I’d share some of the art I’ve produced from these outings. Initially we were able to go further a field to the Coast and the North York Moors but the current lockdown limits us to the local area which amounts to mainly farmland footpaths. I’m not complaining but it is a bit tedious! These are all for sale and please don’t hesitate to contact me…

November ……. already

November ……. already

It has been a long time since I posted here but I have been busy painting! I’ve posted on Facebook and Instagram and fortunately Lockdown has not stopped me from selling art cards and paintings. We had a few trips out in the camper van some just for a day but it gave me the chance to sketch and take photos of North Yorkshire and the North East Coast (in all weathers!) Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle are popular tourist…

New Year, New Adventures

New Year, New Adventures

Happy New Year! After a busy time selling before Christmas I’m enjoying returning to my art work with lots of new ideas. I was asked to do a painting in the style of Conrad Jon Godly a contemporary Swiss painter and commercial photographer.  His style  is very distinctive using thick, heavy mark using a wide brush in cool colours and in oil so very different from my style.  I am pleased with the result although I think Conrad Jon Godly…

This original is for sale so please contact me if you’re interested. Winter has arrived! A Place to Rest

A Place to Rest

One February a few years ago my husband and I were so fed up with the cold, dark days here that we caught a train down to Menton in France and stayed a few days there. The old town much of which is 13th century, is a maze of narrow, steep streets which wend their way up to the old castle at the top. I did a brief sketch and forgot all about it. So on having a clear out…
