A Place to Rest

A Place to Rest

One February a few years ago my husband and I were so fed up with the cold, dark days here that we caught a train down to Menton in France and stayed a few days there. The old town much of which is 13th century, is a maze of narrow, steep streets which wend their way up to the old castle at the top. I did a brief sketch and forgot all about it. So on having a clear out the other month I found my sketch book and did a watercolour of one of the colourful court yards which we passed on our steep ascent.

Giclee Prints  (pronounced “zhee-clays”).

Giclees can be used to reproduce many different types of art. The scanned  image file of an art print needs to be at least 300 DPI—because the more dots of colour that can be printed in a small area, the more detailed the final image will appear.  My prints are of very high quality and considered “archival.” This is typically achieved using inks that are pigment-based instead of dye-based.
